Quick Answer

How Do We Replace a Mailbox Lock?

We pick or bypass the existing lock, remove the cylinder, and install a new one. For standalone curbside mailboxes, this is a 15-minute job. Community cluster mailbox units (the big multi-door boxes at apartment complexes) take a bit more work because the lock types are different.

We carry standard cam locks, tubular locks, and USPS-approved replacement cylinders. If your mailbox uses a non-standard lock, we can order it and come back, but 90% of the time we have what you need in the van.

What If I Lost My Mailbox Key?

We don't need your old key to replace the lock. We open the mailbox without the key, pull the old cylinder, and install a new one. You get two fresh keys. Total time is under 30 minutes.

For USPS cluster boxes (common in HOAs and condos), the process is slightly different. You can request a new key from USPS, but that takes 2-3 weeks. We can do it today.
