What Keys Can We Duplicate?

Standard house keys, mailbox keys, padlock keys, and most residential lock keys. If it's a standard pin tumbler key (the kind with teeth on one side), we can copy it in under 5 minutes. We carry blank stock for Schlage SC1 and SC4, Kwikset KW1 and KW10, Yale, Weiser, and dozens more.

High-security keys from Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, and Abloy can also be duplicated, but only with your authorization card. These restricted keyways are designed to prevent unauthorized copies. We're an authorized dealer for all three brands.

Why Get Keys Copied by a Locksmith Instead of a Kiosk?

Accuracy. Those self-service key kiosks at hardware stores use automated cutting that's often slightly off. The key works 80% of the time but sticks or requires wiggling. We cut on a professional duplicator that's calibrated weekly. Our copies work perfectly every time.

According to a 2024 Consumer Reports test, self-service kiosk keys had a 15-20% failure rate on first use. Professional locksmith cuts had under 2%. The $2 you save at the kiosk isn't worth the frustration of a key that barely works.

Common Questions

Legally, yes. The 'Do Not Duplicate' stamp is a request, not a law. There's no federal or Florida statute that prohibits copying a key with that stamp. However, restricted keyways (Medeco, Mul-T-Lock) physically can't be copied without authorization because the blanks aren't available.

Yes. We can impression or decode the lock to create a key from scratch. That's a different service from duplication and costs more ($65-$150), but it works when you have zero existing keys.

Yes. See our car key duplication page. Car keys with chips cost more because of the programming involved.
