When Should a Business Rekey Its Locks?

Employee turnover, security breach, or a key that can't be accounted for. If someone who had a key no longer needs access, rekeying is the fastest way to secure the building. We do this constantly for property managers between tenants and businesses after staff changes.

According to the National Association of Realtors, commercial property tenants turn over every 3-7 years on average. Every transition should include a full rekey. We offer volume pricing for property managers who rekey regularly.

How Is Commercial Rekeying Different from Residential?

The lock hardware is different and the volume is higher. Commercial buildings use mortise cylinders, interchangeable cores (IC cores), and sometimes restricted keyway cylinders. We carry pin kits and blanks for Schlage, Corbin Russwin, Sargent, Best, and other commercial brands.

IC core systems are particularly efficient for rekeying. We swap the entire core in under a minute per door using a control key. The old core gets repinned at our shop and returned to your rotation. Great for buildings that rekey frequently.
