Fire Door Inspection & Repair
$100 - $350 | 30-60 minutes | Available 24/7
Triton Locksmith inspect and repair fire-rated doors to NFPA 80 standards for $100-$350. Annual inspections are required by code for all fire-rated door assemblies. We check the door, frame, hardware, gaps, labels, and closers. If anything fails, we fix it on the spot.
What Does a Fire Door Inspection Include?
We check 12 items per NFPA 80: door condition, frame condition, hinges, closer operation, latch engagement, gap clearances (3/16 max at head/jamb, 3/4 max at bottom), fire label, glazing label, astragal (if paired), coordinator (if paired), gasketing/seals, and no field modifications. That's the complete NFPA 80 checklist.
NFPA 80 Section 5.2 requires annual inspection of all fire door assemblies by a 'knowledgeable individual.' That's us. According to the National Fire Protection Association, fire doors are the most commonly failed inspection item in commercial building fire audits.
Common Questions
How much does a fire door inspection cost?
Individual door: $100-$150. Building with 10+ doors: volume pricing (typically $50-$75 per door). Repairs found during inspection are quoted separately.
Are annual fire door inspections required?
Yes. NFPA 80 and the International Building Code both require annual inspection of all fire-rated door assemblies. The fire marshal can cite your building for non-compliance.
What happens if my fire door fails inspection?
We note the deficiency and can usually repair it during the same visit. Common failures: closer not latching the door, gaps exceeding 3/16 inch, missing fire labels, and non-rated hardware installed.
Do you provide documentation after inspection?
Yes. You get a written inspection report for each door listing the items checked, pass/fail status, and any repairs performed. Keep this for your fire marshal and insurance records.
