Trunk Lockout Service

$75 - $125 | 10-20 minutes | Available 24/7

Quick Answer

Triton Locksmith open locked trunks for $75-$125 without damage. If your keys are in the trunk, we open the car door first and use the interior release. If the trunk lock itself is jammed, we pick or bypass the cylinder directly. Takes 10-20 minutes.

How Do We Open a Locked Trunk?

Two methods depending on the situation. If your keys are inside the trunk, we open the car door first (same as a standard lockout) and pop the trunk using the interior release button or lever. If the trunk lock cylinder itself is stuck or jammed, we pick it directly.

Most modern cars have electronic trunk releases accessible from the driver's seat or the key fob. We can also access the trunk through the rear seat pass-through on many sedans if the release mechanism has failed.

What If the Trunk Release Doesn't Work?

We pick the trunk lock cylinder or bypass the release mechanism. Older vehicles have a keyed trunk lock that we can pick with standard automotive tools. Newer vehicles with purely electronic releases might need the rear seat folded down to access the trunk from inside the cabin.

We've opened trunks on everything from 1990s Buicks to brand new Teslas. Different approach for each, but we get the trunk open.

Common Questions

$75-$125. If it's combined with a car door lockout (keys locked in trunk, car is also locked), it's one service call covering both.

Yes. We don't need your key to open the trunk. We use bypass tools or pick the lock cylinder. No damage to the trunk or vehicle.

If the mechanical latch failed, that's a repair beyond locksmith scope (body shop territory). But if the lock cylinder or electronic release failed, we can fix or bypass those.

No. If it's one trip, it's one service call. We open the car and the trunk as part of the same visit.
