What BMW Key Types Do We Replace?
Standard remote keys, Comfort Access proximity fobs, and display key fobs. BMW has used several key systems over the years. Pre-2005 models use a standard transponder with EWS immobilizer. 2005+ models use CAS or FEM/BDC systems. We program all of them.
The BMW display key (the one with the touchscreen) is dealer-only for full programming. Standard Comfort Access fobs we handle on-site with our Autel IM608 Pro.
How Much Does BMW Key Replacement Cost?
$200-$300 for standard remote keys. $300-$450 for Comfort Access proximity fobs. The dealer charges $400-$850 for the same service. Plus they make you tow the car there and wait 3-5 days. We come to your parking spot at Town Center Mall or your driveway in Boca and do it in under an hour.
According to BMW of North America, the average dealer replacement cost for a Comfort Access key is $470 plus a $150 programming fee. We include programming in our price.

Can you make a BMW key without going to the dealer?
Yes for most models. Standard remote keys and Comfort Access fobs for 1-Series, 2-Series, 3-Series, 4-Series, 5-Series, 7-Series, X1 through X7, and Z4. Some very new models may require dealer involvement for final pairing.
How long does BMW key replacement take?
30-60 minutes at your location. Older EWS models are faster. Newer CAS3+/FEM models take longer due to additional security steps.
Can you program a used BMW key from another car?
Yes, if it's the correct part number for your model. We erase the previous vehicle data and register it to your BMW. This can save money over a brand new fob.
What if my BMW has a dead key fob battery?
We replace it for $10-$15. BMW key batteries are CR2032 or CR2450 depending on the model. If the fob still doesn't work after a battery change, it may need reprogramming ($75-$125).
